My academic and occupational background consists mainly of mathematics, electrical engineering, software development and English–Japanese bilingual communication. My interests have extended to ecological health, social justice, local community and simple/slow living. I also like veggie gardening, nature, physical fitness and Japanese culture.

I have had some privacy and security awareness for most of my life, but in recent times I have been more involved in free software, digital security and digital rights (not as in "digital rights management" but human rights related to digital technology). However, as some of my other interests may suggest, I generally dislike technology, and I hate surveillance, war and other oppressive/dehumanising technologies more.

I seek to contribute to creating a better world where all living beings can have dignity and thrive on an ecologically healthy Earth, and where people and their communities have control over their own lives instead of corporations and governments. I hope to get more involved in projects that lead to this vision.
